Manual door lock not working.
If your car key is not working when you attempt to unlock your car there is a possibility that the lock itself is damaged.

The key fob is faulty.
If you drive a fairly modern car there is less of chance that you will have to deal with this which is mostly attributed to the presence of key fobs and keyless entry remotes.
If you can put the key in the lock but cannot to turn it the lock may have seized because dirt or grime has gotten caught in the mechanism.
To clean the lock mechanism insert a damp cotton swab into the keyhole and jiggle it around to attract the dirt.
There are only 2 things you can try to fix this yourself.
Wait 5 minutes start your car.
If your locks arenâ t working replacing the battery in the key fob could solve the issue.
Many door knob and lockset problems can be corrected before they become so serious that the lockset does not work at all.
Sorry that we feel the need to state.
If the lock tries to move then it is a frozen lock mechanism.
If that does not solve it turn off your engine disconnect the car battery wait about 5 minutes.
If they do work the problem is most likely in the door lock solenoid.
This is one of the most common reasons why your car door lock is not working.
While the key is in work the door lock manually up and down while using the auto lock at the same time.
Reinstall the plastic cover and replace the assembly.

The key fob battery is dead.
Spray electrical cleaner onto the black electrical connector.
Often a malfunctioning latch assembly or lock mechanism causes the problem.
If that doesn t work i would venture to guess that the wafers in your door lock have worn down to the extent that you need the lock replaced.
