Maytag Front Loading Washer Door Locked

The lid lock is a default feature of your maytag front loading and top loading washer to prevent opening the appliance while the cleaning cycle is in progress.

If the washer does not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the appliance or disconnect power. If not then your main control board will need to be replaced. The door lock secures the washer door shut during operation. When using one of these cycles the door will remain locked until the cancel button is pushed.

Front loaders have a locking mechanism to avoid opening the door during a washing cycle but occasionally this lock will be activated accidentally. Our chat service hours are monday friday from 8 a m. Thank you for your inquiry. The washer will go into a hold and drain routine for 8 minutes. Reconnect power to washer plug in. Door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically.

If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the washer or disconnect power. Plug the washer back in and hopefully the board reset. Pausing the wash cycle is how it can be disabled. During this period you will be able to hear the pump running.

The door may immediately unlock. The door should unlock after this is complete. If not call for service. If the door lock is defective the washer door will not latch properly.

The door should unlock after 60 seconds. Wait approximately 2 minutes for control to reset. Nothing else will appear to be happening with the machine during this time. After 8 minutes the door will unlock.
